The Ryedale Christian Council (the Council) comprises representatives appointed by and answerable to each of the Worshipping Christian Traditions in the part of Ryedale covered by the Helmsley Anglican Deanery.

The purpose of the Council is to promote co-operation between all Christians in Northern Ryedale in the service of our Lord. To that end, it prays, thinks and discusses as a group open to God's guidance, to discover what Christians could do together in the area and to encourage and promote such activities

Each Worshipping Christian Tradition may appoint a maximum of five representatives, drawn from laity and clergy together. The Council may co-opt other individuals as members for a specific purpose as and when appropriate. Co-opted members shall have their membership of the Council reviewed annually.

Election of officers by the members of the Council (to include a Chairperson, Vice Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer) shall take place annually prior to the end of June.

An annual general open meeting will be held in July at which the work of the Council shall be reviewed and the annual financial accounts shall be presented.

Each Worshipping Christian Tradition is invited to make an annual financial donation to the work of Council. In the event of any decision to discontinue the Council, an extraordinary meeting shall be called at which surplus funds will be disbursed in accordance with the purposes of the Council.

The Constitution of the Council may only be amended by a two thirds majority of the Council after due notice has been given of any proposed alteration both to the previous Council meeting and to each of the Worshipping Christian Traditions.
