THE CHRISTIAN HERITAGE OF RYEDALE

The Christian heritage of Ryedale has developed steadily for nearly 2000 years, and is still doing so. The visitor can see many signs of this growth and evolution amongst the hills and valleys of the area. We hope that this site will help to show how events in the local history of Christianity fit into the wider historical pattern and how, in a modest way, the Christian life of this area helped to make people aware of the love and forgiveness of God.
There is much to explore and more detailed information can be found at all the main sites and in libraries. This is only a starting point, but we hope it will add to your appreciation of Ryedale's Christian Heritage.
The Christian Heritage story is ongoing, and in the last thirty years great strides have been taken in the way that Christian Traditions in the area work together. Today Christians in Ryedale are trying to work to the principle that:
